Team
working
What is the difference between a group and a team?
In a team members work to achieve shared objectives. And there is another
difference. In
a team, people have different roles – as in a football team. We
can improve team working by being aware of each others’ roles,
and crucially, by being aware when one of the team roles is not being
performed by anyone.
Other areas that effective teams need to be aware of include communications
skills (of course) and the need to pay attention to the process as well
as the task.
In an effective team:
- Members understand their different roles
- Members are aware of each others’ skills
and experience
- There is mutual trust and respect
- Meetings are productive, amicable and short
- Individual as well as team development is encouraged
- Performance is reviewed regularly
Workshops
Our workshops explore different team roles, discuss the difference between
task and process, look at how teams develop over time and identify
ways to improve team working. Click here if you would like to be contacted
